Something different.

A different theme this time, Although we adore the 1940’s theme, we wanted to do something else. Freedom, getting away, Independence, living life to the fullest etc..with a little bit of more “mature”portraits of Zoe.

From Tramontane to Mistral.

black and white, blog, france

A lot has happened these past few months, I have moved from L’Aude to the Gard, a whole new departement with lots of new places to discover! There are Vineyards all around me and small mountains, lots of sun and the famous Mistral. It does blow a lot but as someone who loves the wind it does not bother me at all. Two weeks ago I stumbled upon a beautiful but funny thing: Fields full of tulips! Being a Dutchie it made me smile, I didn’t expect that here in the South of France but the French love it, there were lots of people who came to see them!

Montolieu, village du livre et des arts

blog, book cover photography, books, france

On a beautiful Sunday beginning of October we decided to go and do a little photo shoot in Montolieu, a village not far from us in the montagne noire. Montolieu is known as the book and arts village due to it’s many bookshops and art galleries. In the summer it can be busy with tourists but now, in the autumn, it’s a lot more peaceful and we were able to work in peace.

We asked the owner of a book store (who happened to be dutch!) if we could take some photos inside his shop and we could, really friendly guy.

With it’s almost Provence like colors, small ancient streets with flowerpots everywhere and little corners where you can just sit down and relax it’s really a charming village to visit!

Photoshoot with Justine

book cover photography

Last Saturday I finally left my comfort zone and did a shoot with a young woman I’ve had never met before.

I feel a little awkward shooting with strangers French not being my first language is a barrier for me, I’m a little frightened to make people unease, unsure because I feel like maybe I can’t explain to well in French what I want. But it was time to give it a go and I was very pleased with the experience and the young woman Justine was just lovely and very patient. I love the results and so does she, I am sure we are going to work together again in the future!

New book cover

New book cover , Germany by Fiona Mcintosh, The Champagnergarten.

I love the fact that this serie of photos that I shot were made during the first confinement in march 2020, we weren’t allowed to go outside at all but we were so fed up of staying indoors that we decided one Sunday afternoon to go outside anyway and do this shoot. The advantage of living in the southern french countryside is that you don’t cross anyone on a Sunday, confinement or not, so we didn’t get caught.

The photos from this shoot has done really well, it has made several book covers and is still reserved for more today.

Lots of great shoots!

I have been doing a lot of shooting these past 2 weeks, with a computer that does what it has to do and a new computer screen all the past frustrations are gone and I can finally do the things I love to do!

I’m having tons of inspirations and that feels so good….

Thriller time

book cover photography

Yesterday I decided to do a shoot I wanted to do for a long time. I already had the necessary accessoires for a long time, I just needed a shovel and not having a garden prevented me from doing the shoot, I didn’t have a shovel. Then I thought of going to our local garden centre and asked them if I could borrow one, and they were so kind as to lend me one. The rest of the shoot wasn’t very complicated as far as preparations were concerned, no make-up or hairstyles to do, no particalair clothing needed just my model Zoe who would be prepared to play dead. I think she did an awesome job.

It was another hot day here in the south of France but we decided to go ahead and do a photo shoot anyway. It isn’t far from my home this beautiful hillside, only a few kilometers. It’s a real summery landscape now where everything is a little dry and sunburned but I like it, I think it forms a nice contrast with the blue sky and red cardigan of Demi.
